Southern Torch's 98.3 Wild Country wins top honors with prestigious ABBY Award

Southern Torch’s 98.3 Wild Country radio station has earned top honors from the Alabama Broadcasters Association, winning an ABBY Award for excellence in radio broadcasting.

The annual ABBY Awards recognize outstanding achievement, community service and professionalism among radio and television stations across Alabama, with entries judged by broadcasters from outside the state.

Station officials said the award highlights 98.3 Wild Country’s commitment to local programming, community involvement and country music entertainment in northeast Alabama.

“We’re honored to be recognized by our peers across the state,” a station representative said. “This award reflects the hard work of our entire team and our dedication to serving our listeners every day.”

The ABBY Awards include categories such as station of the year, on-air personalities, news coverage and promotional campaigns, with divisions based on market size.

98.3 Wild Country has built a strong local following through a mix of country hits, community news and coverage of regional events, including high school sports and local festivals.

The Alabama Broadcasters Association said the awards are designed to highlight stations that demonstrate excellence both on the air and in their communities.

Southern Torch operates multiple media outlets in the region and focuses on delivering local news, information and entertainment to audiences across northeast Alabama.

The ABBY Award is considered one of the state’s most prestigious honors in broadcasting.
