ONEONTA, Ala.-- The Valley Head Tigers defeated the Appalachian Eagles 41-24 on Friday night. The Tigers improved to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in Class 1A, Region 7.
The Valley Head Tigers scored twenty-one unanswered points in the first quarter.
With less than two minutes clicked off in the second quarter, Ashton Brown came crashing in from 3-yards out. The kick by Herman Moreno was successful giving the Tigers the 28-0 advantage. The Eagles added seven points to the board with 5:16 remaining in the first half. Valley Head carried their 28-6 advantage into intermission.
In the third quarter, both teams added 6 points to the scoreboard, with Valley Head scoring with only:48 seconds remaining in the third.
Valley Head added their final touchdown of the night with 10:17 remaining in regulation play. Appalachian scored at the 7:16 mark of the game and at the 5:11 mark. Time ran out and Valley Head earned the 41-24 win in region play.
Eian Bain led the Valley Head Tigers with 350 yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns.
Valley Head will host Victory Christian on Friday night.
