FORT PAYNE, ALA.--The Fort Payne Track and Cross Country teams have six athletes that have signed scholarships to compete at the college level.
- Patrick Sherrill will continue to compete in Jumps at the University of Montevallo
- Javier Soto will run on the Cross Country team for Gadsden State
- Marcella Sebastian will throw discus for Marion Military Institute
- Lennon Ibsen who ranked No. 1 at State in pole Vault will continue the tradition at Jacksonville State University
- Malik Turner will high jump for UAH
- Shaq Hawkins will high jump at Birmingham Southern.
According to Coach Penton, this is the largest number to sign in one class.
Fort Payne set seven new school records this year. Fort Payne’s girls have been a constant top ten finisher in Class 6A, at the state meet for the last eleven years. That included a total of five third-place finishes.
