Eagles Soar in Season Opener

MILLBROOK, Ala.--Cornerstone Christian Academy faced New Life Christian Academy on the road, for their 2021 Season Opener.  The Eagles shut out New Life,  40-0.

In the first quarter, Lucas Hale connected with Jack McGullion on a 43-yard pass for the touchdown, to take the 6-0 lead.  Lucas Hale scored on a 3-yard stampede into the endzone, to give the Eagles the 12-0 advantage at the end of one.

In the second quarter, McGullion scored on a 54-yard pass connection from Hale. Hale then connected with Eli Carter for the two-point conversion to take the 20-0 lead.  McGullion brought it in from 47-yards out for the score.  Hale brought in the two-point conversion to go into the half with a score of 28-0.

The Eagles dominated the second half as well.  McGullion scored on a 35-yard rushing touchdown, giving the Eagles the 34-0 advantage.  Late in the third quarter, the Eagles put their final points on the board after an interception by Sam Johnson for the score. 

Jack McGullion led the Cornerstone Eagles with 82 yards on 2 carries and two touchdowns.  Lucas Hale went 3-for- 3 and 107 yards in passing.  

The Cornerstone Eagles will be on the road again this week, taking on Success in Montgomery for a Thursday night game.
