The Northeast Alabama Community College men’s golf team delivered strong results close to home this week.
NACC golfers competed in the 2026 Ron Marshall Spring Fling Tournament Monday and Tuesday at the Goose Pond Colony Lake Course in Scottsboro.
The Mustangs, ranked No. 49 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II men’s golf rankings, finished 11th in the tournament’s team standings.
“We played very solid the first day,” said NACC first-year head coach Jabo Moore. “As for the third round, we had much colder and windy conditions. I’m very proud of the guys. They have improved a lot since the start of the year. We have a lot to grow on from this tournament, but there were a lot of things we did well.”
Scottsboro High School alum Ethan Roberts led the NACC effort, tying for fourth in the individual standings after shooting an even-par 216 across three rounds of the 54-hole tournament. The sophomore from Scottsboro shot a 2-under par 70 in both the first and second rounds on Monday before carding a 4-over par 76 during Tuesday’s third round.
NACC’s Round 1 scores included a 2-over par 74 from sophomore and Scottsboro alum Greyson Widgeon, a 3-over par 75 from sophomore and Scottsboro alum Reed Potter, a 4-over par 76 from freshmen Owen McGee and Reece McKlintok, a 5-over par 77 from freshman and North Sand Mountain alum Blake Maples, an 8-over par 80 from freshman Braden Holt and a 17-over par 89 from sophomore Thomas Stewart.
In Round 2, Potter shot a 2-over par 74 for the Mustangs while Holt carded a 3-over par 75, McGee a 4-over par 76, McKlintok a 5-over par 77, Stewart a 6-over par 78, Widgeon a 7-over par 79 and Maples an 8-over 80.
Stewart’s 3-over par 75 was NACC’s top score in Round 3 while Potter shot a 4-over par 76 and Holt and McKlintok both shot a 5-over par 77. The Mustangs also got a 6-over par 78 from Widgeon, an 8-over par 80 from McGee and an 11-over par 83 from Maples.
Next up on the schedule for the NACC men’s golf team is the 2026 Enterprise State Spring Series March 16-17 at The Bridges at Tartan Pines golf courses in Enterprise.
