Devils Scorch the Tigers

FYFFE, Ala.-- The Fyffe Red Devils defeated the Red Bay Tigers, 55-8 in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Playoffs. 

The Red Devils scored on a 36-yard touchdown run by Hunter Machen with 2:12 remaining in the first quarter.  Red Bay blocked the point-after kick, to make the score 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. 

Logan Anderson sailed into the endzone from 19-yards out, with 10:52 remaining in the second quarter.  Anderson also brought in the two-point conversion to put the Red Devils ahead, 14-0.  With 7:58 remaining in the first half, Brodie Hicks bulldozed his way in from 44-yards out.  The point-after attempt failed but gave the Red Devils,  the 20-0 lead. Hicks found his way into the endzone for the second time of the night,  on a 1-yard scramble into the endzone, with 3:14 remaining in the second quarter.  Anderson brought in the two-point conversion, to give the Red Devils the 28-0 advantage. Anderson found the endzone from 4 yards out for the Red Devil score, with :22 remaining in the second quarter.  The two-point conversion failed but the Red Devils took a 34-0 lead, going into intermission.

Blake Dobbins scampered into the endzone from 1-yard out, with 6:50 remaining in the third quarter,  to give Fyffe the 41-0 advantage over Red Bay. 

Bryce Totherow trotted into the endzone from one-yard out.  The kick by Jesse Martin, made the score 48-0.  Red Bay avoided the shutout on a 13-yard dash into the endzone. The Tigers went for two, making the score 48-8.  Totherow found the endzone for the second time of the night, from 2-yards out.  The kick by Martin, made the final score of the night, 55-8. 

Logan Anderson led the Fyffe Red Devils with 161 yards on ten attempts.  

The Fyffe Red Devils will travel to take on Winston County in the second round of the AHSAA State Football Playoffs.
