Rainsville, Ala.--(FULL VIDEO ON SOUTHERN TORCH FACEBOOK) The Rainsville City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on May 16.
Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt advised the Council that the Chavies project pertaining to the culvert side was near completion, with the exception of some cleanup. City Engineer, Sam Phillips, sent the letter of acceptance to the Council for their approval. Wiregrass will be onsite for paving beginning next Monday.
The Council empowered Mayor Lingerfelt to obtain financing for the 2006 Pierce Enforcer Fire Truck for the Rainsville Fire Department. A 25% deposit was previously submitted, leaving the balance of $94,000 to be financed through First Southern State Bank.
According to Rainsville Fire Chief Williemac Wright, plans were being made to have the firetruck delivered to Alabama.

The next regular council meeting will be held on June 6, with a work session beginning at 4 p.m. and the regular meeting beginning at 4:30.
