HENAGAR, Ala.-- The City of Henagar held its regularly scheduled City Council Meeting on Monday, October 4th

In New Business, the Council approved the following:

  • According to Fire Chief Jeff Crump, the Fire Department needs stabilizers and demo tools, which will cost $1,550. The Council approved the motion.
  • Last year the council voted to sponsor the Liberty Learning Foundation program at Henagar Junior High School. The City was asked to sponsor the program again this year for $2000, which was approved by the Council.
  •  Purchase of a new sign for the Fire Department to match the other signs in the city from Cryer Signs for approximately $800.

The Council discussed the following items:

  • The Fall Farmers Market has begun in the park and will continue each Monday this month.
  • Since attendance at the new Senior Center has been low, the staff is considering reducing the days open each week until interest can be increased.
  • Re-usable banners are to be purchased to go in the park to advertise the City’s Halloween event and Christmas at the Cabin.
  • A water meter needs to be installed at the Burnt Building for use by the Public Works Department, which will be moving to that location in the near future.
  • Mr. Crump stated that the key broke off in the ignition of Engine 4, and must be repaired.
  • Mr. Anthony Ivey was present to voice a complaint concerning a church sign on Andrew Lee Drive which he said is too bright and creates visibility issues, especially in the rain. The council will look into the situation.
