GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — In a ceremony at Guntersville State Park, the Alabama Mountains, Rivers, and Valleys (AMRV) Council awarded Representative Will Ainsworth (R-Guntersville) and Senator Steve Livingston (R-Scottsboro) their 2016 Outstanding State Representative and Senator award.
The AMRV is part of the Alabama Resource Conservation and Development council, which provides education and conservation initiatives to the North Alabama area, and is instrumental in protecting our natural resources and educating future generations.
When asked about the award, Ainsworth said, "I'm honored to receive it."
"I'm a big advocate for conservation, for land, for protecting farmers, for protecting our water system; especially the Tennessee River, and making sure we get the funding to protect our area in North Alabama," said Ainsworth.
"I'm proud to be named 2016 Outstanding State Senator," said Senator Steve Livingston, "They do great work in our community, and I was able secure them funding to help them with the good work that they do."
"A lot of their focus is on education. They take kids from inner city areas to do outdoor activities who normally wouldn't get the chance to," said Livingston.
