DEKALB COUNTY, Ala.— Area tournaments were held this week in Girls’ Varsity Volleyball. And, once again, DeKalb County is the Home of Champions as we had four Area Champs and a runner-up in the tournaments. All five teams will be heading on to Super Regionals Friday at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
Crossville defeated Hokes Bluff to win 4A, Area 12. Their season record is 15-16, and they will be playing Haleyville at 4:15 Friday afternoon.
Geraldine defeated Ohatchee to win 3A, Area 13. Their season record is 32-17. They also won the DeKalb County tournament. They will be playing Ohatchee Friday morning at 11:30.
Plainview defeated Pisgah to win Class 3A, Area 14. Their season record is 18-24. They will play Walter Wellborn Friday afternoon at 12:45.
Ider defeated Fyffe to win Class 2A, Area 13. Their season record is 25-9. They will play Southeastern Friday afternoon at 5:30.
Fyffe will also move on to the Super Regionals. Their record is 15-16. They will play Sumiton Christian Friday afternoon at 3:00.
All five teams will be trying to move on to the State Championships to be held next week in Birmingham at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
