Message from the NACC President Regarding Google

Message from the NACC President Regarding Google

Hello to all!

Like everyone else in our area, we at Northeast are very excited about Google announcing that they will build a $600 million Data Center at Widow’s Creek in Jackson County. Construction on the facility will begin in 2016.

We at Northeast have had numerous inquiries about possible jobs at the Jackson County Data Center when it opens. What we can tell you is that Google is not hiring for positions at the Jackson County Data Center at this point, but will begin hiring in 2016. Google will conduct national searches for jobs at the facility, but the company does like to hire locally whenever possible.

Google does refer those who are interested in jobs and careers at their data centers to links on their web page. Information in the link tells of what types of jobs typically are available at their data centers. Staff in our College and Career Planning Center in the Wallace Administration Building here at Northeast can of course help you with finding out what credentials are needed for most of these positions. We emphasize that having these credentials is of course no guarantee that someone will be hired specifically by Google, but the credentials do qualify someone for jobs with other companies as well.

We welcome Google to our area and can say that the company through the years has been a great friend and supporter of education and civic activities in communities where they are located. For those who might be interested in a career at a Google data center , we refer you to the following links, the later which describes the overall Google hiring process:
