JACKSONVILLE, ALA.-- The Lanett Panthers (24-2) defeated the Ider Lady Hornets (22-11) in the Class 2A Northeast Regional Finals at the Pete Mathews Coliseum at Jacksonville State University on Tuesday, February 21.
The Lanett Panthers took the 13-11 lead in the first period. Ider scored 14 points in the second period, to give Lanett the slight 28-25 lead going into intermission.
Ider outscored the Panthers 13-8 in the third period. Lanett scored 18 points to Ider’s 8 in the final period of play, to capture the Regional Championship with a 52-46 score.
Nakeriona Heard led the Lanett Panthers with 21 points.
Makinley Traylor led the Ider Lady Hornets with 14 points and three rebounds. KK Wilborn finished the night with 13 points. Chambree Chapman had 6 points and five rebounds. Julie Mavity also had 6 points and three rebounds. Kenize Smith had 5 points and three rebounds. Aubree Champman finished the night with 2 points and one rebound for the Ider Lady Hornets.
The Ider Lady Hornets defeated Pleasant Valley 63-49 in the Class 2A Regional Semifinals.
Makinley Traylor and KK Wilborn were named to the Class 2A All-Tournament Team. Paisley Patalas, of Pisgah, was also named to the team.
