DCTC Medical Science Gives Back

Submitted Release

DEKALB COUNTY, ALA.--In honor of National SkillsUSA Week, DeKalb County Technology Center's (DCTC) Medical Science Department students and instructors followed SkillsUSA's principle of giving back to your community.

DCTC Medical Science students and instructors Mrs. Paula Carroll, Mrs. Meagan Hale, and Mrs. Constance Stone worked with Mrs. Jennifer Robinson Tijsma and Helping Hearts Care Project to provide care bags for patients who are undergoing cancer treatment at Alabama Cancer Care of Fort Payne. Students packed blankets, crackers, and other items to comfort patients as they receive treatment.

DeKalb County Career Tech Director Jonathan Phillips stated "Giving back to your community is a vital part of Career Tech Education and SkillsUSA's curriculum. We are thankful to Mrs. Tijsma and Helping Hearts Care Project for giving us this opportunity to serve our community and hopefully bring comfort to patients as they fight cancer."
