RAINSVILLE, Ala. — The DeKalb County Basketball Tournament kicked off on Monday with the #1 Plainview Varsity Boys defeating the #8 Valley Head Tigers, 83-40.
Jonah Williams led the Bears with 39 points. Ethan Bain led with 16 points for the Tigers. Plainview will face the Sylvania Rams, who defeated the Collinsville Panthers, on Friday night.
The Rams defeated the Panthers, 68-54 with Jarrett Hill leading the Rams with 24 points. Colton Wills had 29 points for Collinsville.
On Monday, the Plainview Lady Bears defeated Valley Head, 90-28. Lauren Jimmerson led the Lady Bears with 21 points. Lydia Crane led the Valley Head Lady Tigers with nine points.
The Plainview Lady Bears will face the Ider Hornets, who defeated Geraldine on Tuesday, 70-54, on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
On Monday, the Fyffe Red Devils defeated Crossville, 77-26. Micah Johnson led Fyffe with 20 points, while Landon Cox had 16 for the Lions.
The Red Devils will advance to the semi-final round on Friday night where they will face the Geraldine Bulldogs, who beat Ider, 92-49.
