The varsity basketball head coaches in the Jackson County School System have released their 2023-24 All-Jackson County Basketball teams.
Eleven players, including a player and coach of the year, were selected in both girls and boys divisions.
Pisgah’s Campbell Barron and Skyline’s Bryant Kennamer were the Jackson County Girls and Boys Basketball Player of the Year respectively.
Barron and Kennamer were both all-state selections this past season. Kennamer, a senior and the MVP of both the Class 1A Boys Northeast Regional and Jackson County Tournament, averaged 12.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the 26-5 Vikings, who won Jackson County, Class 1A Area 15 and Class 1A Boys Northeast Regional titles. Barron, a sophomore, averaged 19.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while helping the Eagles go 20-11, win the Class 2A Area 15 Tournament championship and reach the Sand Mountain, Jackson County and Class 2A Girls Northeast Regional tournament title games.
Meanwhile, Skyline’s Craig McGill was named the coach of the year for both divisions after leading his alma mater to a county tournament title sweep. McGill led the Skyline girls to the Class 1A Northeast Regional finals and coached the Skyline boys to the Class 1A State Tournament.
