The Mustangs were slated to take the field today in Oxford, against West Georgia and Georgia Tech.

The announcement of NACC’s first softball scheduled marked an exciting milestone for NACC, as the college’s athletics programs continue to expand.

NACC’s impressive new softball facility looks to wrap-up construction soon. The team is now able to practice on the field, and the training facility which will be utilized by all student athletes is nearing completion. In the meantime, the Mustang softball team will play its home games in Scottsboro, thanks to the Scottsboro High School Lady Wildcats softball team.

The Northeast Mustangs are eager to showcase their talent in this inaugural season. The team, led by Head Coach Joe Guthrie, has been working tirelessly to build a strong foundation and is ready to make a statement in their first year of competition.

“We are very excited about the many opportunities ahead for our team,” said Coach Guthrie. “Our players have been working very hard to earn some big opportunities in front of them.”

Northeast’s state-of-the-art women’s softball stadium is also nearing completion on campus, and the team is now  practicing on the field. The stadium will be lit via LEDs, the grandstands will be covered by a roof, and artificial turf will cover the infield and outfield. Locker rooms and a training facility will also be included. McKee and Associates of Montgomery are the architects for the project and Sports Turf of Georgia is the construction company building the stadium.  P & C Construction, a local company, is also part of the stadium construction.
