28 Drug Related Arrests in month of August

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Several arrests were made in the month of August on drug
related charges.
On Friday, July 29 th , DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on I-59. During
the stop, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. Jerry Allen Gay
(65 of Talladega) was charged with DUI (controlled substance), Unlawful
Possession of Marijuana 1 st and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Stephen L Campbell (30 of Knoxville, Tn) was charged with Unlawful Possession of
Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2 nd and Promote Prison
Contraband 2 nd .
On Monday, August 1 st , DeKalb County Deputies were advised that Chattooga County
Georgia was in a vehicle pursuit that was headed into Alabama. On Hwy 117, near the
state line, Deputies picked up the chase. The driver stopped and fled on foot at
Winston Street and Commerce Avenue in Mentone but was quickly apprehended.
During the arrest, approximately 8 grams of methamphetamine was found. Stephen
Michael White (50 of Soddy Daisy, Tn) was charged with Unlawful Possession of
Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Attempt to
Elude Police.
On Thursday, August 4 th , DeKalb County Deputies, along with Crossville Police
Department and DeKalb County Narcotics Agents conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 68,
near Dawson, finding the driver to be in possession of marijuana and drug
paraphernalia. Cody Lee Brown (24 of Union Grove) was charged with DUI
(controlled substance), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1 st and Unlawful
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Thursday, August 4 th , DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County
Road 479. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. Max
Leigh Blair (40 of Crossville) and Cesily Baird (30 of Boaz) were charged with
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jonathan Joe Young (33 of
Albertville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance,
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2 nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia.
On Sunday, August 7 th , Henagar Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 75.
During the stop, the driver was found to be under the influence and in possession of
prescription narcotics that he had no prescription for. Arlis Wayne Phelps (60 of Ider)

was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Combined
Influence.
On Thursday, August 11 th , Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 825 in
Crossville finding methamphetamine and a firearm in the vehicle. Shannon Leon
Smith (43 of Boaz) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance,
Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol and Unlawful Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia. Orvil Ladon Haygood (59 of Boaz) was charged with Unlawful
Distribution of Controlled Substance (x2), Unlawful Possession of Controlled
Substance, Persons Forbidden to Possess Pistol and Unlawful Possession of
Drug Paraphernalia.
On Friday, August 12 th , Deputies with the DeKalb County Interdiction Unit conducted a
traffic stop on I-59 near the Fort Payne exit finding methamphetamine, marijuana, drug
paraphernalia and prescription medications. Matthew Brian Johnson (60 of Lafayette,
Ga) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful
Possession of Marijuana 2 nd , Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and
Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs.
Again, on August, 12 th , Collinsville Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 68 in
Collinsville finding over 120 grams of marijuana in the vehicle. Jeffery D Strange (38
of Baileytown, Al) and Bailey Cofer (22 of Cullman, Al) were both charged with
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of
Marijuana 1 st .
On Saturday, August 13 th , Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Hwy 75, the driver
failed to stop, initiating a short pursuit. Once the vehicle was stopped, the driver then
fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. Jeffrey Scott Ahlgren (50 of Soddy Daisy,
Tn) was charged with Resisting Arrest, Attempt to Elude, Unlawful Possession of
Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful
Possession of Prohibited Beverage, Reckless Endangerment and Criminal
Mischief 3 rd .
On Monday, August 15 th , Deputies responded to a call on County Road 337, finding
marijuana growing inside the residence. Shannon Leon Smith (43 of Geraldine) was
charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1 st and Tampering with Physical
Evidence.
On Tuesday, August 15 th , Fyffe Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 75
finding the driver to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Colby Gene Wells (37 of Section) was charged with Unlawful Possession of
Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Again, on August 16 th , Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 51, near
County Road 12 finding both occupants to have outstanding warrants. During the stop,
a K-9 was deployed indicating illegal drugs in the vehicle. James Aaron Maddox (43

of Attalla) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Melissa Kaye Brown (37 of
Geraldine) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance,
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Theft by Deception 4 th .
On Wednesday, August 17 th , Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Mentone, near County
Road 643 and 631. The driver of the vehicle exited the vehicle and ran, escaping
deputies. The passenger was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Vanessa Gilliam (41 of Valley Head) was charged with Unlawful Possession of
Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. This case
is ongoing and warrants will be obtained for the driver of the vehicle.
On Thursday, August 18 th , Agents conducted a search warrant at a residence on County
Road 3. While there, Agents found methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia
and stolen property was recovered. Joshua Daniel Anderson (39 of Crossville) was
charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of
Marijuana 2 nd and Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance. Scottie Lane
Yeager Jr (36 of Crossville) was charged with Resisting Arrest.
Again, on August 18 th , Deputies, along with Collinsville Police Department responded to
a domestic violence call at a residence on Hwy 68 that involved weapons. Prior to
officers arriving, the offenders fled into the woods. When officers were leaving, they
spotted and then made contact with the suspect. Raul Felix (34 of Collinsville) was
charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Tuesday, August 23 rd , Deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 58 in the
Geraldine area finding methamphetamine in the vehicle. Quinton A Bartlett (55 of
Albertville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Tuesday, August 23 rd , Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on Fruit
Farm Road in Fort Payne finding methamphetamine within the residence. Ronald D
Jones (42 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled
Substance (X4) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. James Cecil
Bailey (34 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled
Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Christy Michelle
Haynes (43 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled
Substance (x2), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2 nd and Unlawful Possession of
Drug Paraphernalia.
On Thursday, August 25 th , Crossville Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on Main
Street in Crossville finding methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Tony
Dewayne Ferguson Jr (36 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of
Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2 nd and Unlawful
Possession of Drug paraphernalia.

On Sunday, August 28 th , Deputies stopped to assist a vehicle that was broken down in
the roadway on College Road in Crossville. During the assist, a large amount of
narcotics were found. Logan Jennings (18 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful
Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia.
