Rainsville to Give Longevity Raises

Rainsville, Ala.-- (Full video on Southern Torch Facebook) The Rainsville City Council held their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, October 4. 

A Longevity Raise for City Employees was included in the newly passed 2021-2022 Rainsville Budget. The Council voted to enact the raise beginning with the September 30th pay period.  The amount of raise will be determined by the employee's years of service. 

The Council approved Resolution 10-04-2021 which will Transfer funds from the American Rescue Plan Account to the Sewer Account for Reimbursement of funds for Sewer Projects Completed after 03-03-2021. 

The Council gave the Mayor the power to sign for an easement to expand sewer lines in the area of the new medical clinic for new business at an approximate cost of $25,000. This expansion will provide 200 feet of sewer that can be expanded at a later date. The sewer line expansion needs to be installed before the new business is built. Bids will be accepted for sewer expansion until October 27. Bids will be announced at the November 1st Council Meeting.  

The Council approved the purchase of Body Cam, Radio, Portable Radio for the Code Enforcement Officer in the amount of $988.94.

The Council made the following Personnel Changes:

  • Accepted Blake Farmer’s Resignation—Public Works Department
  • Hired David Dudley—CDL Driver/Public Works Department

The Council approved the following: 

Quote by TNT Paving for patchwork on Kirk, Kain, Kilgore, Oak, Industrial in the amount of $9700.00.
Quote by TNT Paving for Plainview Street in the amount of $33,700.00
Installment of Street Light at the North End of the Agri-Business Center
New Engine for the Sanitation Truck in the amount of $38,000.00 (parts and Labor) to Lance Kittle

The next Rainsville Council Meeting will be held on Monday, October 18th. The work session will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the regular session beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
