VALLEY HEAD, Ala.-- On Saturday, May 7, the Town of Valley Head will transform into Mayberry for the fifth annual Memories of Mayberry.
Visitors will be able to meet and greet several of the iconic characters from the classic Andy Griffith show. Barney Fife, Floyd the Barber and Otis the Town Drunk, and Ernest T. Bass can be found around the Valley Head Town Square, throughout the day.
The Memories of Mayberry is a fundraiser, with all benefits going to the Valley Head Volunteer Fire Department. This is the department's biggest fundraiser of the year.
Memories of Mayberry hosts several fun contests such as Aunt Bea’s Homemade Dill Pickle Contest, which is sponsored by Mt. Olive Pickle Company, of North Carolina, and Wickles Pickles of Etowah, Alabama. The Aunt Bea’s Homemade Pie Contest and the Whistling Contest are also favorite contests of the event.
