FORT PAYNE, Ala.-- (Full Video on Southern Torch Facebook) The Fort Payne City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, November 1. 

The Council granted the activity permit for the Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade on December 9th beginning at 6:00 p.m.  The parade route will begin on  Gault Avenue and go from 18th Street North to 3rd Street South.

A Public Hearing was held to receive comments on the proposed vacation of portions of the rights-of-way easement on Grand Avenue and 7th Street North.

Debbie Smith, representing Alabama Arise, was present at the meeting to announce a Health fair at the VFW on November 5th . 

The Council approved the following Ordinances and Resolutions: 

• Resolution 2022-33 authorizing the vacation of portions of Right-of-Way easements for Vicky Kirby. 

The following Alcohol License Applications were approved:

• DeSoto Golf, LLC, On-Premise Beer & Wine

• Don Chicos Mexican Restaurant, Restaurant Retail Liquor

The Council set November 15th as the date of a public hearing to receive comments on the proposed re-zoning of approximately 6.96 acres located at 1310 Airport Road West from M-1 (Light Industrial) to R-F (Rural Farm) and owned by Melanie Miller.

The next Fort Payne City Council will be held on November 14, at 12:30 p.m.
