The DeKalb County Technology Center recently racked up the accolades in the SkillsUSA competition. Career Tech has been labeled as one of the key components to move DeKalb forward and increase skilled workforce for potential industries shopping for a new location.
SkillsUSA Nationals Results:
Ty Isbell – Placed 3rd (Bronze Medal) in Masonry (Fyffe High School)
Katelyn Abernathy – Placed 18th in the Nation in Nail Care – Cosmetology (Geraldine High School)
Houston Ward (Ider High School) and Ryan Hambrick (Fyffe High School) –Place 20th in the Nation in Robotics.Paula Carroll (Health Care Instructor) has been recognized by the state for being one of five Health Care Instructors in Alabama with the highest number of students earning Business and Industry Credentials. Mrs. Carroll will be honored at the Alabama State Career Tech Summer Conference on July 29th in Birmingham.
The State Department of Health has awarded DCTC Health Science Program a Nurse Aide Training Program. Students will be taking their certification test at Northeast Alabama Community College. The Program will be led by DeKalb instructors Andrea Stevenson and Paula Carroll, both instructors are in the process of DCTC becoming a test site for students. DeKalb County is the only system to be awarded the program in our region!
Daniel Smith (Valley Head) Won the Gold Medal at the IT Technical Testing Competition at Northeast Alabama Community College.
Crossville FFA Advisor Jason Jackson had two students in June earn their State FFA Degree: Ashley Banks and Nicole Minor
Crossville FFA Chapter was awarded One Star National Chapter Award at FFA Conference.
Geraldine FFA Chapter was awarded Three Star National Chapter Award at FFA Conference. They will be eligible to compete for the National Model of Innovation and Model of Excellence Awards.
Jonathan Phillips was named National Judge for Job Demonstration A at the 2014 SkillsUSA Nationals for second straight year. (2013 and 2014)
