Fresh produce, like that shown in this photo from last season, will be available starting      Tuesday at the DeKalb County Farmers Market at the DeKalb County VFW Fairgrounds.. The market will be open Tuesdays and Fridays, from 3 p.m. until produce sells out.

Fresh-grown vegetables and fruits are among the best parts of the summer season, and the DeKalb County Farmer’s Market opens its season Tuesday, to provide the freshest locally grown vegetables as the crops come in.

DeKalb County Farmers Market Board President Grady Dalton said the market will be open Tuesdays and Fridays, from 3 p.m. until the produce sells out, starting Tuesday, June 4, at the DeKalb County VFW Fairgrounds pavilion.

Dalton said he’s heard already from growers who will have yellow squash, zucchini, cabbage, and more, ready to sell Tuesday.

The DeKalb County Farmers Market is certified to receive Alabama Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons.

The local farmer's market serves both customers and sellers.

The market gives local growers a place to sell their produce as it becomes available through the growing season. And it gives local residents a good source of the freshest food that can be found, and related items.
