The North Sand Mountain boys golf team’s quest for a state championship three-peat came up short during the annual AHSAA Golf Championships.

NSM finished as the Class 1A-2A Boys State Tournament runner-up Tuesday at Oxmoor Valley Golf Club in Birmingham.

After winning state championships in 2023 and 224, the Bison finished with a team score of 659 to close 29 shots back of state champion Bayshore Christian of Fairhope. NSM, which shot 320 in Round 1 and 339 in Round 2, finished four shots in front of third-place Holy Spirit and 16 shots in front of fourth-place Lindsay Lane.

NSM was unable to complete Monday’s opening round due to inclement weather on Monday with its golfers having to finish Round 1 Tuesday morning before playing Round 2 on Tuesday.

Junior Brady Anderson finished ninth in the individual golfer standings for NSM, shooting a two-round 18-over par 162 (82-

80). Senior Blake Maples finished 10th with a 19-over 163 (78-85) for the Bison while Jack Johnson (83-89) and Duncan Wilks (87-85) tied for 16th with a 28-over 172.

NSM was making its sixth consecutive state-tournament appearance, notching three state championships and a state runner-up finish during that span.
