Cruise-in on the square supports charities
Story By Marla Ballard
The second Saturday of each month, from April to November, the downtown Scottsboro Square will entertain the Scottsboro Cruise-In presented by Classic Cruiserz. While the Cruise-Ins were originally operated by the Jackson County Cruisers, Classic Cruiserz has resumed the traditional gatherings. Classic Cruiserz is operated by son and mother team, Cameron and Dale Langella.
Classic Cruiserz is a local classic car organization with a mission to support the community through charitable donations. Charitable donations will be delivered on a rotating basis, meaning that each month, the group will donate to a different charitable organization within the community.
According to the Langella’s, charities that the group will support include: Veterans programs, Autism Advocacy, Food Banks, Backpack for Kids, Scottsboro City School System, breakfast and lunch programs for underprivileged children, Bundle of Joy, Air-Evac, Homes for our Troops, the Fire Department, First Responders, Police department, and local animal shelters. The list is not all inclusive and Classic Cruiserz will consider additional charities that need help.
Community support to help Classic Cruiserz is appreciated. Any donation big or small will make a difference. Classic Cruiserz plans to acknowledge local businesses as supporters of the group. If anyone is interested in supporting Classic Cruiserz initiatives, either by attending the event, providing a donation, or sponsoring the group, reach out to the group for additional information at infoclassiccruiserz@gmail.com. Classic Cruiserz will have many activities at the second Saturday events including: music, bingo, and cornhole, scavenger hunts, raffles, trophies, quests, door prizes, awards, games, photo ops, classic cars, contemporary vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles. There are no registration fees for vehicles for the Cruise- Ins.
Food trucks will be on premises and the Langella’s said are looking forward to the food truck vendor business growing in the months to come. New engaging ideas for event growth are currently under review and suggestions are always welcomed from the public.
“Our goal is to bring our community together for a great cause. Our vision is to see everyone have a great time, whether that be socializing, winning prizes, checking out some really amazing vehicles or just having something fun to do on a Saturday evening. Our community events are the heartbeat of togetherness. They offer opportunities to strengthen bonds, celebrate culture, and drive positive change, while supporting local economic growth, impacting our local charities and inspiring action,” - Classic Cruiserz.
Weather permitting the second Saturday Cruise-In takes place from 4 -7 p.m. Event is free to attend. The next scheduled event is to be held on June 14.
