ARC of Jackson County to host Arc in the Park

Story By Katie Hightower

On April 18, the ARC of Jackson County will hold its first Arc in the Park from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at King Caldwell Park in Scottsboro. The event will give members of the community an opportunity to shop with local vendors, enjoy entertainment and connect with others — all while supporting a worthy cause.

The ARC of Jackson County was created to provide opportunities and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities. For years, the organization has empowered the people it serves through workforce development and teaching self-reliance. Through inclusion, those served by the ARC have become valuable members of their communities. Arc in the Park will help the organization continue its services and support its mission of empowerment.

Those attending the event can expect a full day of inclusive entertainment under the lush foliage of King Caldwell Park. Guests will be able to enjoy the park’s scenery while shopping for custom goods from local vendors and enjoying refreshments from food trucks.

Volunteers, sponsors, vendors and food trucks are still needed for the event. Arc in the Park offers a meaningful opportunity for those interested in giving back while showing support for valued members of the community.

Sara Haynes, administrator for the ARC of Jackson County, said she was excited about Arc in the Park and encouraged the community to attend.

“This is a great opportunity for us to meet the people who support us so generously, so please come. We want to meet you,” Haynes said.

Those interested in volunteering, sponsoring or vending at Arc in the Park may call the ARC of Jackson County at (256) 259-1603 or email thearcskeeton@gmail.com. There is a $40 vending fee for vendors and an $80 fee for food trucks.
