ALBERTVILLE – At Tuesday night’s school board meeting, the Albertville Board of Education successfully filled several critical leadership roles.
New appointments include principals for both the high school and elementary school, as well as a new head baseball coach for the high school (see story on Page B1 of today’s edition).
Steven Hudgins was named the principal of Albertville High School. Hudgins recently concluded his first year as principal of Albertville Intermediate School. Prior to AIS, he served as the assistant principal at Albertville Kindergarten and Pre-K.
In addition to his roles within ACS, Hudgins has experience as a teacher and coach at Boaz Middle and High Schools, John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham, Moody High School and Russell County High School. He also taught at AHS from 2013 to 2016.
Hudgins’s wife, Sarah, is a teacher in the AggieVision advertising design pathway at the Albertville Innovation Academy.
With Hudgins transitioning to the role of principal at Albertville High School, a vacancy has been created at Albertville Intermediate School. System leaders are actively working to fill this position, and an announcement regarding the new principal is expected in July.
Katie Holland has been appointed the principal of Albertville Elementary School. Holland recently completed her seventh year as principal of Eura Brown Elementary School in Gadsden, a two-time National Blue Ribbon Pre-K through fifth grade school.
Before moving into administration, she worked as a classroom teacher, academic coach and danceline instructor. Under her leadership, Eura Brown placed in the Top 25 Schools in Alabama for three consecutive years, including being one of four schools in the state to score a 100 on the ALSDE Report Card in 2022.
Holland’s husband, Corbin, will be teaching science at the Albertville Innovation Academy.
Reeves also presented the updated policy manual at Tuesday’s meeting that will replace the entire previous manual for its first reading. The new manual will be approved at the July 23 board meeting.
