Hornets Sting the Panthers

WOODVILLE, Ala. — The Ider Hornets claimed their first victory of the season, with a 23-8 win over the Woodville Panthers. 

The Woodville Panthers put the first points on the board with a touchdown and two-point conversion with 4:00 remaining in the first quarter.  The Panthers carried the 8-0 advantage into the half.

With 7:41 remaining in the third quarter, Matthew Norman scored a touchdown for the Hornets. Benjamin Smith added the extra point, making the score 8-7.  Later in the third quarter, the Hornets cashed in with a field goal to take the 10-8 lead.  

With 7:43 remaining in the game, Ider found their way into the endzone bringing the score to 16-8.  Matthew Norman scores the final touchdown of the night for Ider, making the score 24-8.

Matthew Norman led the Ider Hornets with 230 yards on 23 carries. He went 5-for-8 on passing.  He scored three touchdowns to help the Ider Hornets win their season opener.  

The Ider Hornets will travel to face the Plainview Bears on Thursday night due to the possibility of inclement weather.
