FP Eyes Area Championship

The Fort Payne Lady Cats soccer team traveled to Randolph for their second meeting of the year and won 3-1.  The first goal was scored by Avery Chadwick in the opening minutes, off a deflection by a Randolph Defender.  Randolph tied it up with 25 minutes to go in the first half.  The second goal was a 25-yard bomb by Lauren Highfield, assisted by Alexa Hidrogo, with 13 minutes to go in the first half.

The second half was a defensive struggle, but with 1 minute to go, Avery Chadwick was able to send a ball through a collision with a defender and the goalkeeper to Chloe Goggans to get the third goal.

Defender Isabella Hernandez,  played a near-perfect game and had 2 tackles as the last defender inside the penalty area to save potential goals.

Cameron Brewis had 10 saves, and as a team, the Wildcats had 15 shots, with 6 on target.

This wind puts Fort Payne in the lead for the area with one area match remaining next Tuesday vs. Arab at Arab. A win in that match will seal the area championship for the Lady Cats.
