Bulldogs Shock the Bears

PLAINVIEW, Ala.-- The Geraldine Bulldogs defeated the Plainview Bears, 26-20 in a shocker on Friday night. 

Jaxon Colvin crashed in from 2-yards out for the Geraldine touchdown with 7:31 remaining in the first quarter. Andrew Hall answered back on a Plainview stampede down the field with 6:05 remaining in the opening quarter. The kick by Aurturo Medrano gave the Bears the 7-6 advantage to close out the first quarter. 

Braiden Thomas stormed in from 2-yards out to give the Plainview Bears the 13-6 lead over the Bulldogs with 10:08 remaining in the opening half. Caleb Hall bulldozed his way down the field for the Bulldog 9-yard touchdown, with 2:59 remaining in the second quarter. The point-after attempt failed, giving the Bears the 13-12 advantage going into intermission. 

The Geraldine Bulldogs scored on a 2-yard dash into the endzone by Colvin, to take the 18-13 with 5:42 remaining in the third quarter. 

Late in the fourth quarter, Colvin scored two touchdowns for the Bulldogs. He scored on a 35-yard run, with 4:04 remaining, and again on a 3-yard scamper with 3:55 remaining. Plainview answered back with 2:43 remaining in play, on a 7-yard rushing touchdown by Hall. The extra point attempt by Medrano was good to make the score 26-20. Time ran out on the clock, giving the Geraldine Bulldogs the 26-20 victory over the Plainview Bears. For their impressive win, the Geraldine Bulldogs are the Southern Torch Team of the Week.

Jaxon Colvin was named the Southern Torch Player of the Week, leading the Bulldogs with three touchdowns and 67 yards for the night. Carlos Mann had 82 yards on nine attempts. Caleb Hall rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown. 

Braiden Thomas led the Plainview Bears with 140 yards on 29 attempts and one touchdown. Andrew Hall had 62 yards for the night and two touchdowns. Andrew Hall and Mason Cooper both had a fumble recovery for the night. 

Both teams will be on the road this week, as Geraldine will travel to take on Saks and Plainview will travel to take on the Crossville Lions.
