Bears Collide with Eagles

PISGAH, Ala. — The Plainview Bears defeated the Pisgah Eagles 50-28 on Friday night.

The Pisgah Eagles scored first, with :09 remaining in the first quarter, on a 54-yard pass connection from Parker Law to Levi Arnold.  The extra point was good, making the score 7-0. 

The Plainview Bears answered back with a 61-yard quarterback keeper by Noah White.  The extra point attempt failed, making the score 7-6 with 10:35 remaining in the first half.  With 6:13 remaining in the second quarter, Marcos Vega galloped in from 39-yards out.  Vega successfully went for two, making the score 14-7.   With 2:32 remaining in the second quarter, Jathan Underwood brought it in from 70 yards out on an option pitch left.  The two-point conversion by McCurdy was good, making the score 22-7.  With 4.5 seconds remaining in the first half, White made a 56-yard pass connection to Andrew Hall.  The two-point conversion by McCurdy gave the Bears the 30-7 lead going into intermission. 

The third quarter was back and forth between the two teams. After Mason Holcomb picked off a Plainview pass and ran it back 55 yards, Parker Law brought it in from 20-yards out for the Pisgah score, with 7:00 remaining in the third quarter. The kick was good, cutting the Bear lead to 30-14.  Brody McCurdy brought it in from the Bears from 64 yards out, with 5:35 remaining in the third. The extra point attempt was good, giving the Bears the 36-14 advantage. With 2:21 remaining in the third, Law intercepted the ball, ran it back 38 yards, scoring for the Eagles.  The extra point attempt by Vincent Burke, narrowed the Bear lead to 36-21. 

Holcomb connected with Grant Smith for the 40-yard Eagle touchdown with 10:25 remaining in the game.  The PAT was good, making the score 36 -28.  Marcos Vega scored the last two touchdowns, one from 28 yards and the other from 17 yards, giving the Bears the 50-28 win.

Several players showed up and out for the Plainview Bears. Vega led the Plainview Bears with 160 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 21 carries. Vega also led the Bears with 6 tackles.  McCurdy had 111 yards on 9 carries, a touchdown, and 6 tackles.  White and Underwood both had 99 rushing yards for the night. Bryson Richey and Arturo Medrano, both finished the night with five tackles.
