19 Years Later, They're Back!

SYLACAUGA, Ala. — The Geraldine Bulldogs defeated the B.B. Comer Tigers in the second round of the Class 3A Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Playoffs. 

The Geraldine Bulldogs scored quickly in the first quarter on a 10-yard run Sebastian Totherow, to take the early 7-0 advantage. With 10:57 remaining in the first, Anthony Baldwin scored to go up 13-0 over the Tigers.  The Bulldogs attacked again with a 60-yard touchdown run by Caleb Hall. The two-point conversion was good to take the 21-0 lead.

B.B. Comer fumbled the ball to start the second quarter. Geraldine recovered the ball on the 15-yard line. D.J. Graham made the 15-yard pass connection to Jackson Bearden for the touchdown. The PAT was good, giving the Bulldogs the 28-0 lead with 7:44 remaining in the first half. Geraldine scored once more to go into the intermission with the 28-0 advantage.

Geraldine had the ball to start the second half.   Anthony Baldwin broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown run.  The extra point attempt was good and Geraldine took the 35-0 lead with 9:42 remaining in the third. WIth 5:16 remaining in the third, Kyle Tackerson scored on a 14-yard stampede down the field. The PAT made the score 42-0 with 5:16 remaining in the third quarter. 

After a touchdown run by Jose Garcia, the kicker, the Geraldine Bulldogs had the 48-0 advantage with 10:28 remaining in the fourth. The Bulldogs scored on another 6-yard touchdown run by Garcia.  The PAT was good to  go up 55-0 with 6:55 remaining in the game. Late in the game, B.B. Comer put their only points on the board scoring with 6:04 remaining in the game. The Bulldogs scored the final touchdown of the night with a 31-yard touchdown run by Eric Garcia. The PAT failed but gave the Bulldogs the 61-7 win.

Anthony Baldwin led the Bulldogs with 125 yards on 20 carries and scored two touchdowns. 

The Geraldine Bulldogs (8-4) will make their first third round appearance in the Class 3A AHSAA State Playoffs since 2000 as they host the Piedmont Bulldogs (11-1). The two will meet in a dogfight on Friday night.
