VALLEY HEAD, Ala. — The Valley Head Tigers picked up their first regional win of the season, defeating the Cedar Bluff Tigers, 20-14.

Cedar Bluff won the toss and drove to the 10 but missed a field goal attempt.  Valley Head took the ball at their own eight, but could not make it to the endzone.

Bryson Morgan put points on the board, with a 38-yard touchdown for Valley Head.  The point-after attempt by Noah Hulgan was good, giving Valley Head the 7-0 lead to start the second quarter.  Cedar Bluff scored to tie the game, with 2:45 remaining in the first half, on a quarterback keeper. Jordan Burt connected, with a 40-yard touchdown pass, to Bryson Morgan to regain the 14-7 lead with :11 remaining in the first half. 

Valley Head took the opening drive of the second half in for a touchdown, on a 5-yard run by Bryson Morgan.  The PAT was unsuccessful but gave Valley Head, the 20-7 lead with 6:31 remaining in the third quarter. Cedar Bluff responded with a 7-yard touchdown run.  The extra-point attempt narrowed the Valley Head lead to 20-14. 

To start the fourth quarter, Valley Head had the ball on 3rd and 10, on the Cedar Bluff 35 yard line.  Valley Head was forced to turn the ball over on downs with 1:58 remaining in the game.  Cedar Bluff was marching down the field when Jordan Burt intercepted the ball.  The Valley Head Tigers held on to the ball, running out the clock for the 20-14 win.  

Bryson Morgan led the Valley Head Tigers with 27 carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Burt had 28 carries for 121 yards. Roger McMahan led the defense with 6 tackles for the night.

"I'm very excited for the win last Friday and to be 1-0 in the Region," said Valley Head Coach Heath Vincent. "As a team we will continue to take each week one game at a time and stay focused on the task at hand and our health."
