Two in Centre arrested for distribution in separate investigations

CENTRE, Ala. — According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office: Cherokee County deputies and investigators arrested a Centre man on Thursday, January 4, 2018, for several drug charges.

Investigators obtained warrants for 40 year-old Ricky Shane Flynt for distribution of a controlled substance. While executing those warrants at a residence on County Road 40, Sheriff’s Office investigators located illegal drugs.

Flynt was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center for distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, in an unrelated investigation, investigators also arrested Cody J. Haney, 24, of Centre for possession with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Haney’s arrest took place on U.S. Highway 411 north, and he was also transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on Thursday.

Both suspects remain in the Cherokee County Detention Center, where they await bond.
