RAINSVILLE, Ala.—Yesterday, longtime Rainsville resident, Dr. Lelon “Doc” Thompson passed away.

He was born in 1925 and always showed potential.

He graduated from DeKalb High School at the age of 17. He was a graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. He then went on to serve our country in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force.

Doc Thompson was married to the late Johnnie Richey Thompson, for sixty-five years. They raised four children.

Doc had many life experiences that he loved
to talk about and offer advice to those in need. He
Was a long time Rotarian and lived up to their motto of “Service above Self”.

Recently, Doc Thompson researched and
helped develop a dog ordinance in the City of
Rainsville.

Doctor Thompson was a member of Robertson Chapel Church where he participated in the
monthly men’s breakfast.

Most mornings, you would find Doc working out
at Body Vision in Rainsville. He started his workout with fifty setups and then cardio. He attributed his daily routine to his longevity of life.

Doc Thompson and his sweet smile will be missed.
