Two teams who both believe they're king of the mountain...

On Thursday night more than just Power Rankings will be on the line. For the Fyffe Red Devils, a perfect regular season and the 6th straight win over the Bears. For the Plainview Bears, redemption from beating after beating over the last 5 years and the last shot at glory for this Senior class.

The coaches want to keep their players calm. They want to tell them that in the grand scheme of things this doesn't mean anything when the playoffs start next week. They want the players to approach this like any other game. While maybe that is true in a sense, to the rest of us watching...it's so much more.

It's bragging rights for the next 365 days. It's a point of reference 10 years from now when we're getting ready to watch these two teams square off again. It's a war as much in the stands as it is on the field. It's pride that can't be explained unless you've lived it. It's hate week.
