Wildcats Split "TopCat" basketball

On Tuesday night, the Wildcats of Fort Payne traveled to Scottsboro for the first of two Top Cat battles on the hardwood this season. The Wildcats split with Scottsboro on Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats fell to Scottsboro in a matchup of ranked teams, 74-46. Scottsboro is the No.1 team in Class 5A. In the varsity boys game, the Wildcats took control early and never looked back as they picked up their second win of the season, 57-38 over Scottsboro. 

The first game of the evening was a match-up of the top five teams. The home-standing Wildcats took control mid-way through the first quarter and never looked back. Scottsboro led after each quarter break (21-12, 42-25, 63-39, 74-46). The No.1 Wildcats hit 17 total threes in the game to build their lead. 

Zimri Craig led Fort Payne with 24 points. 

Fort Payne falls to 5-3 on the season. 

In the nightcap, the Fort Payne Wildcats built a big lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Fort Payne led at the end of each quarter (21-10, 37-17, 44-25, 57-38). Fort Payne built a lead of 24 points (44-20) mid-way through the third quarter, which was their largest of the game.  

JJ Willoughby led Fort Payne with 19 points, and Carson Todd scored 13 points. 

Fort Payne improves to 2-5 on the season.
