The DeKalb County November election just became a little less interesting  as Republican Candidate Ben West has withdrawn from the race for District 4 Commissioner.

Due to recent medical issues that have surfaced with members of my immediate family, I'll be withdrawing from the race for the District 4 County Commission seat. As much as I care about the people of DeKalb County, the health and security of my family will always come first.

I am honored and proud to be a member of the Republican Party. I will continue to support our great group of candidates as we move forward to November, but it would be selfish and irresponsible for me to continue with my campaign.

As the only GOP candidate for the District 4 Commission seat, West did not have a primary opponent. Incumbent Dewitt Jackson (D) will now retain his seat for another 4 years.
