GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Fort Payne native Evan McPherson has been named SEC Freshman of the Week.

The Florida Gators kicker was named as Freshman of the Week after his team’s win against Mississippi State on Saturday. During the game, he kicked field goals of 21 and 39 yards in the 13-6 win over the Bulldogs.

McPherson initially committed to playing for the Bulldogs before following Coach Dan Mullen to Florida this fall. He succeeded former kicker Eddy Pineiro, who left for the NFL.

We are so proud of Evan for this great honor and we look forward to seeing him kick field goals and extra points for the rest of season!
