FORT PAYNE, Ala-- The Cincinnati Bengals were the only team to draft a kicker in 2021. They drafted in the fifth round, Fort Payne’s own, Evan McPherson. McPherson was a five year starter at Fort Payne High School winning numerous awards. He received a total of eight scholarships and ultimately decided to attend the University of Florida. During his three seasons with the Gators, McPherson shined. As a true freshman, McPherson connected on 89.5% of his field goals and was perfect on extra-point attempts.
To say that Fort Payne is proud of McPherson would be an understatement. Jack Davidson, owner of Fort Payne Footworks, wanted to show McPherson just how much. He worked to design the perfect shirt highlighting McPherson’s accomplishments and sold it at his store. The shirt simply stated “From Fridays in Fort Payne...To Saturdays in Gainesville….To Sundays in Cinn…”.
Fort Payne Footworks Owner, Jack Davidson wanted to donate a percentage of the profits to the Child Advocacy Center. On Monday, a check was presented to Elizabeth Wheatley, Director of the DeKalb County Children’s Advocacy Center.
We all will be wearing our shirts in support of Evan on Sundays!
