RAINSVILLE, Ala. — (Full Video on our Website) The Rainsville City Council held their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, October 15.
The Council approved three new placements on the Northeast Alabama Agri-business Center board: Monk Blevins, Stuart Mitchell, and Councilman Brandon Freeman. Blevins was also appointed to the Public Building Authority board, the entity that owns the Agri-business Center.
In other business, the Council approved:
• First phase of the Oaks subdivision on Morgan Road/Highway 90
• Mayor’s placement of David Snay as a part-time revenue officer
• Mayor’s hiring of John Lybrand as a garbage truck driver (part-time)
• Resolution 10-15-2018A allowing city employees to sell up to eighty hours of vacation time back to the City; the employees must have at least 15 years of employment with the City
• Paving of portions of the Tom Bevill Enrichment Center (TBEC) parking lot in the amount of $4,900.00; the paving is to be completed by TNT Paving
• Purchase of 100 chairs for the TBEC for $2,000
• Painting of the TBEC at cost of $2,800; low bid was submitted by Rodney Hitchcock
• Resolution 10-15-2018B for surplus of city property
• An application to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) for a $23,000 grant for the police department
• Purchase of computers for the police department at cost of $11,774
• Annual test at the fire department at cost of $1,255
• Purchase of 100 new garbage cans at cost of $6,500
• Paving on George Wallace a cost of $18,000
• Purchase of a side-by-side cart with a dump bed at cost of $14,950
The next meeting of the Rainsville City Council will be held on Monday, November 5 at 5pm with the work session beginning at 4:15pm.
