Student Caught at Sylvania with Marijuana

From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden:

FORT PAYNE, Ala. A 17-year-old male was caught with a small amount of marijuana in the classroom at Sylvania School on Monday, January 14th.

The student in question was a senior at Sylvania School. Charges and punishment have not yet been determined. Due to the student’s juvenile status, his identity will not be released.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “Narcotics have no place in our schools. This incident highlights the importance of having a School Resource Office in our schools.”

“Having law enforcement present to work with educators when these situations arise is a great deterrent to drug use on school grounds,” he said.

“God Bless,” concluded Welden.
