The Southern Torch Week 6 POWER RANKINGS
8. Crossville Lions (0-6)
52-7, Saks rolls. Results as expected here as we knew the Lions were outgunned in a game with Saks (6-0). They could avoid 0-10 when they travel to White Plains in two weeks, but they better get that one.
Points Per Game: 11
Average Margin of Victory: -28
Next: vs Cherokee County (2-4)
7. Collinsville Panthers (3-3)
After 3 straight losses the Panthers have fallen to the back of the pack. Collinsville is loaded with skill players and getting QB Tanner Nelson and LB Brady Osborn will help, but this line is going to have to block or the season may be lost. The Panthers have been as high as #3 in the Power Rankings this season...
Points Per Game: 24
Average Margin of Victory: -1
Next: at Ider (4-2)
6. Valley Head Tigers (3-2)
Big win for the Tigers as they knock off Spring Garden and put a chokehold on a playoff birth reminiscent of Abdullah the Butcher...but Fyffe comes to the valley this week.
Points Per Game: 24
Average Margin of Victory: +5
Next: vs Fyffe (6-0)
5. Sylvania Rams (3-3)
Sylvania did something special this week. They went to the Rock and won. Huge momentum swing and region win to get back to .500 as the hated Bears come to town this week...but they'll need more than Uncle Mo for that one.
Points Per Game: 24
Average Margin of Victory: +2
Next: vs Plainview (5-1)
4. Ider Hornets (4-2)
Jarrett Palmer and the Hornets stung for 49 straight points while mercilessly pounding on West End like Butterbean on a featherweight. Ider continues to make an impression on the Power Rankings and the Hornets are sharpening their stingers for this weeks' brawl.
Points Per Game: 28
Average Margin of Victory: +7
Next: vs Collinsville (3-3)
3. Geraldine Bulldogs (5-1)
Probably the quietest 5-1 team in the state. The Bulldogs continue to put together solid wins and keep the opening loss to Fyffe in the rearview mirror. The Purple roll in to the Rock this week as they try to remain undefeated in the region. Tough stretch coming up for Maddox and the boys, but they should be 7-1 before the Bears come calling for a potential region championship.
Points Per Game: 27
Average Margin of Victory: +11
Next: at Sand Rock (4-2)
2. Plainview Bears (5-1)
The Bears left Pisgah with their 21st consecutive victory against the Eagles and another dollop of TDs from QB Jayse Pruitt, giving him 9 TD passes in the last 3 games. Payne Anderson ran wild between the 20's but just couldn't find the endzone. There is cause for concern as OL Josh Gravitt hurt his knee, but the extent of the injury isn't known yet. The Bears are a better team this year than they were during last years rout of the Rams, so don't expect a slip...expect an assault.
Points Per Game: 36
Average Margin of Victory: +25
Next: at Sylvania (3-3)
1. Fyffe Red Devils (6-0)
As good as the defense and the skill players have been for Fyffe, the offensive line has been better. This isn't the 'Big G' and Parker Whitten D-1 line, but they may be better as a unit. Fyffe's backs have speed and power, but they look even faster when they're running through holes the size of the national debt. Dominant, complete team.
Points Per Game: 52
Average Margin of Victory: +42
Next: at Valley Head (3-2)
