Week 4 POWER RANKINGS

Week 4 POWER RANKINGS

It looks like the dust is starting to settle and it's going to be a 2-horse-race for the POWER RANKINGS Championship...which may be settled on Halloween night.

Each week we grade every team in DeKalb County based on a number of factors.

Rankings are based on:

  • Overall Record
  • Region Record
  • Head-to-Head Match-ups
  • Strength of Schedule
  • Margin of Victory
  • Coaching
  • Talent

The Southern Torch Week 4 POWER RANKINGS

8. Crossville Lions (0-4)

Ouch... There isn't much more to say at this point in the season. The Lions trailed 35-0 at halftime and then it was just a run out the clock situation for Cleburne County. You have to feel for a warrior like Brodi White, but not matter how much heart he has he can't do it on his own.

Points Per Game: 12

Average Margin of Victory: -25

Next: vs Sand Rock

7.  Valley Head Tigers (2-2)

The Tigers knocked off Gaylesville 18-0 as the defense pitched the first shutout of the season. Valley Head's region championship hopes are still alive, but their POWER Rankings championship hopes are little more than a dream.

Points Per Game: 25

Average Margin of Victory: +2

Next: at Spring Garden

6. Ider Hornets (2-2)

I think Tinker could've suited up himself and it wouldn't have mattered Friday night. Again, that Week 3 loss was devastating to the Hornets playoff hopes. They get a good matchup to try and bounce back with this week as they lineup against the struggling Herd.

Points Per Game: 14

Average Margin of Victory: -6

Next: at North Sand Mountain

5. Sylvania Rams (2-2)

Early and often on Friday night as Cambron got the train rolling early and the Rams got back to .500 . Mean Green could be 4-0 right now...that's painful for Ram Nation to think about.

Points Per Game: 28

Margin of Victory: +13

Next: at Fyffe

4. Collinsville Panthers (3-1)

The Panthers got their first taste of defeat as they traveled to Cleveland in a battle for #2 in the region. The Panthers had 2 TDs wiped out due to penalties and weren't able to overcome those mistakes on the road.

Points Per Game: 31

Margin of Victory: +8

Next: vs Horshoe Bend

3. Geraldine Bulldogs (3-1)

How do you replace Marcus Davis? You can't. But there's still a season to play and Geraldine laced them back up and dominated region opponent Brindlee Mountain. This wasn't the toughest litmus test, but it is good to see Geraldine still be able to dominate without their beast.

Points Per Game: 23

Margin of Victory: +5

Next: at Sardis

2. Plainview Bears (3-1)

Payne Anderson, a.k.a. 'The Human Joystick', and I can do similar things on the football field. The difference is I'm holding a playstation controller when I cut like that. The Bears dominated a 3-0 Sand Rock team and look like they may not be truly tested until Halloween night. Go ahead and cancel any party plans for that night because it will be EPIC.

Points Per Game: 33

Margin of Victory: +21

1. Fyffe Red Devils (4-0)

5 TDs is a good season for a lot of players. 5 TDs is a career for some. 5 TDs was a Friday night for Austin Stiefel as Big Red dropped the hammer on Ider at the Hornets Nest. If they need a reason to not get bored, they have Homecoming against a chippy Sylvania squad on Friday night.

Points Per Game: 49

Margin of Victory: +41
