SYLVANIA, Ala. — The Sylvania Rams defeated the Class 5A, Sardis Lions 32-7 on Thursday night.
After the kickoff, the Rams defense forced a three-and-out and took possession on their 31-yard line. Ten plays later, Keenan Wilbanks found the endzone from 1-yard out. Zach Anderson brought in the two-point conversion, giving the Rams the early 8-0 lead.
Brayden Harris scored for the Rams, with 9:25 remaining in the second quarter, putting the Rams in the driver’s seat with a score of 14-0. The Lions could not make it to the endzone giving the Rams back possession with 3:55 remaining in the half. Brody Smith made the 49-yard connection with Wilbanks to make the score 20-0, going into the half.
Gareth Anderson came crashing in from 14-yards out, with 3:34 remaining in the third quarter, to give the Rams the 26-0 advantage over the Sardis Lions.
As some of the younger players were getting valuable playing time, Leo Kirby scored on a 9-yard gallop into the endzone, with 11:38 remaining in the fourth quarter, to take the 32-0 lead. Late in the fourth, Sardis put their only points on the board, with a 1-yard dash into the endzone.
Gareth Anderson led the Rams with 104 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown. The Rams had 269 rushing yards and 96 passing yards for a total of 365 yards for the night.
Sylvania will host the Brindlee Mountain Lions on Friday night.
