SYLVANIA, Ala.—The Southern Torch Coach of the Week is Matt Putnam, Head Coach of the Sylvania Rams Varsity Football team.

Coach Putnam graduated from Sylvania High School in 1996.  He attended Snead State Community College where he played baseball.  He transferred to Jacksonville State University where he played on the rugby team.  His major is Composite Science.

Putnam has been married to his wife, Lindsay for eleven years.  They have two children,  Luke 10 and Kaylee 8.

Before coming back home to Sylvania, Putnam held the head coaching position at Hazel Green for four seasons.  He led the Trojans to back-to-back winning seasons in 2011 and 2012 and a playoff appearance.
