It’s Game day Friday again football fans. We’ve  got some exciting match ups this week and the game of the week will be in Gaston , and a couple of upsets on the horizon this week. So lets get to picking.

Collinsville (3-2) at Section (0-5) Lions haven’t showed much this year and don’t expect to see much this week either. Panthers should score at will in this game. Jones passing has been very accurate an will  continue to be this week. Reed runs and catches the ball well, Blakely and Nash are great compliments to Reed. Panthers win BIG.

Valley Head  (2-2) at Spring Garden (2-3) Tigers are trying to get over the hump and have a winning record. Harrison will have to have a turnover free night and Leps and Nixs will have to run with authority. The Garden is a hostile environment and they have a tuff defense and a ball control, time consuming offense. It’s just to much for Tigers to overcome. Garden wins a nail biter.

Saks (4-1) at Crossville  (0-5) The Lions are still struggling to find their groove. Pointer passing or Simpson rushing. Dismuke and Jones can catch flies with chop sticks but can they get the run and pass to mesh finally.  Not this Friday against a Good Saks team. The Sak wins.

Geraldine  (3-2) at North Sand Mountain  (4-1) The Bison’s took one to the chin last week. 9 – 7 by Ider. Can they recover this week in front of the home crowd. The Bulldogs are on a 3 game winning streak and playing some really good football. Hood, Willoughby and Jiminez just to much muscle for the Bison’s. Bulldogs pull off the upset with a pounding rushing attack.

West End (3-2) at Ider (4-1) The boys from Walnut Grove are pretty good this year. But that win the Hornets got last week will set the tone for the rest of the year. Palmer and Higdon combination running the ball with the  timely passing of Dobbins should be enough to beat the boys from Walnut Grove.

Pisgah  (2-3) at Plainview  (2-3) The Eagles had a week off last week, they have had some injuries this year that could start to show up in the middle of the year and that’s hard to overcome. The Bears are on a 2 game winning streak. The Bears have found a quarterback in Dukes. With Williamson, Mueller, Kirk and Cooper running the ball and catching passes. Just to much for the Eagles, The Bears win at home.

Sand Rock  (3-2) at Sylvania  (1-4) The Rock played great last week on both sides of the ball. They should still be riding high after that win. The Rams are struggling to find their identity. Roebuck runs hard, Miller gets loose again, Dicus  manages the game, hits a couple passes and Griffen and Dover keep the defense going. Rams upset the Rock.

Lee (2-3) at Fort Payne  (4-1) Lee’s defense is suspect and Lee’s offense is average at best. Wildcats win going away. Turner runs wild, King shows up again. Offense rolls up big numbers. Defense gets back to playing stingy Young, Richburg and Berry play well. Wildcats win

Fyffe  (4-1) at Gaston (4-1) This should be the game of the week. Gaston is having a great year, their defense is allowing less than 10 points a game and their offense scores around 24 points a game. The game is at Gaston that’s big deal to the home team. Fyffe is the defending State Champs and have a lot of players and experience still on the team from last year. Look for Kilpatrick to continue running wild, Benefield to run well from quarterback position and a big catch from Ashley and Collins and keep a eye out for Anderson . On Defense the Martin boys are tackling machines, add in Butts and Hosch and that is one hard nose defense. Fyffe wins in a heart stopper.
