This past week coaches of the team that participated in the annual Sand Mountain Basketball Tournament voted on this year’s Super 7. 

Representing DeKalb County on the varsity girls’ team are Sawyer Kate Hulgan and Lauren Jimmerson from Plainview and Makinley Traylor and Kenzie Smith from Ider. 

Sawyer Kate Hulgan was the leading scorer this season for Plainview with 835 points averaging 23 PPG. Hulgan shot 42% from the three-point line, making 140 three’s this season.

Hulgan was also named to First Team All-State in Class-4A by the ASWA, DeKalb County All-Tournament Team, Sand Mountain All-Tournament Team, where she was also Most Valuable player for the third straight year. 

Lauren Jimmerson scored 570 total points this season, averaging 16 PPG and 5 rebounds per game.

Jimmerson was also named second team All-State in Class-4A by the ASWA and to the Sand Mountain All-Tournament, DeKalb County All-Tournament teams also well. 

Makinley Traylor scored 599 total points for the Ider Lady Hornets averaging 19 PPG. Traylor was named second team All-State in Class-1A by the ASWA and to the Sand Mountain and DeKalb County All-Tournament teams. She was the Most Valuable player of this years Dekalb County Tournament. 

Kenzie Smith; Ider, scored a total of 347 points this season for an average of 10.8 points per game. Smith was named to the Sand Mountain and DeKalb County All-Tournament teams.

Representing DeKalb County on the varsity boys’ team are Sawyer Wilborn, Grant Nickleson, Cy Traylor, Cooper Cox and Reddick Smith. 

Sawyer Wilborn led the Bears with 542 points for the season averaging 15.1 PPG.

Wilborn also took 35 charges for the Bears on the defensive end of the floor.

He was named second team All-State for Class-4A and to the Sand Mountain and DeKalb All-Tournament Teams. 

Cy Traylor scored 496 points for the Bears this season, averaging 13.8 PPG.

Traylor was named third team All-State for Class-4A by the ASWA. He was also named to the Sand Mountain and DeKalb County All-Tournament Teams and was Most Valuable Player for the San Mountain Tournament. 

Grant Nickelson  scored 465 total points for the Bears this season with an average of 12.6 PPG.

Nickelson was named to the Sand Mountain and DeKalb County All-Tournament teams. 

Cooper Cox scored 631 total points for the Red Devils this season with an average of 20.4 PPG.

Cox was named Honorable Mention to the Class-3A All-State Team by the ASWA and was named to the DeKalb County All-Tournament Team. 

Reddick Smith averaged 17 PPG for the Bulldogs this season along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists a game. Smith was also named to the DeKalb County All-Tournament Team.
