DOUGLAS, Ala. — The Crossville Lions defeated the Douglas Eagles, 24-7 in Class 5A, Region 6 play on Friday night.
With 2:33 remaining in the first quarter, Kolby Lesley sailed in from 8-yards out for the score. The extra point attempt failed, making the score 6-0. After a Crossville turnover, the Douglas Eagles scored their only points of the night with 6:22 remaining in the first quarter. The extra point attempt was good, giving the Eagles the short 7-6 lead.
In the second quarter, the Lions scored after a 71-yard touchdown drive down the field. Hunter Haston connected with Lesley, on a 2-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion attempt failed.
In the third, after an offensive fumble, Crossville recovered on the Douglas 21-yard line. Two plays later, Trace Allen found the end zone from 7 yards out , to make the score 18-7.
With 7:10 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Eagles threw an interception. Lesley returned the ball from 80 yards to make the final score of the night, 24-7.
Crossville improves to 1-3 (1-1 in the region). They will host Alexandria this Friday night.
