The AHSAA state softball tournament took place this week. The defending state champion Plainview Bears, coached by Jeff Brooks, had their season come to an end Wednesday morning in a 5-1 loss to Beulah.
Plainview began the state tournament with a 6-1 win over Carbon Hill on Tuesday, followed by a 2-1 loss to Houston Academy that afternoon. The loss put Plainview in the losers bracket where they defeated Prattville Christian 6-1 before falling to Beulah the next day in what would be the Bear's final game of the season.
