Crossville 53-Plainview 50
RAINSVILLE, Ala.— In the first round of the Dekalb County Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament, the Crossville Lady Lions defeated the Plainview Lady Bears 53-50.
The Plainview Lady Bears jumped to the early lead in the first with a score of 14-7. Going into the intermission, the score was tied 22-22.
During the third quarter, it was back and forth between two teams who refused to give up. The lead changed eight times within the first six minutes. Plainview’s Jacey Bell pulled the Bears ahead with her 3-pointer with two minutes left in the third. Crossville fought back with a pair of three’s from Keestan Bobo to end the third with a score of 41-36.
In the final minutes of the game, Plainview fought back and cut the Crossville lead to one. Bell shot two threes that brought the score to 49-48. The last minute of the game consisted of fouls and free throws. Crossville pulled ahead by three to win the game.
Two Crossville players scored in the double digits. Keestan Bobo led the Lions with 14 points. Casey McDaniel had 10 points.
Jacey Bell led the Bears with 24 points. Annabelle Brown put 10 points on the board for the Bears.
Crossville will advance to the semifinals playing Ider, Thursday at 6 p.m.
